The 4th edition of 60 Hikes within 60 Miles of Cleveland was released on September 24. Look for the bright green cover, and rejoice with me: the interior images are in full color!!!
The newest edition includes 19 hikes that are brand-new to the series; and all of the hikes are completely updated. Plus, I am excited to bring back a couple of (much-revised) hikes that had appeared only in the first or second editions. (Allardale in Medina County is one!)
There are also a lot of helpful formatting updates…which you’ll see when you get your hands on a copy. Speaking of which – you can find 60 Hikes/Cleveland in local bookstores like Mac’s Backs on Coventry, The Browsing Room Bookstore & Cafe inside The Galleria, Learned Owl in Hudson, as well as in gift shops including The Maple Leaf inside FA Seiberling Nature Realm, Celebrations & Songbirds, Wild Birds Unlimited, REI, and more. Of course, if you order from the publisher, or if you must add something to your cart as you’re shopping online, you’ll find it at Jeff Bezos’ Everything Store, Barnes & Noble, Wal*Mart, Target, and elsewhere.
What’s Inside the Book?
When Adventure Keen enlists an author to write one of the 60 Hikes within 60 miles guides, they tell the writer: “Imagine you meet someone starting out on the trail just as you’ve completed it. When they ask, ‘How was it? ‘ and ‘What did you see?,’ answer as best you can.”
I like to think my descriptions are accurate, illuminating, helpful and at turns educational and/or amusing. But I can’t claim any credit for what I consider the most useful thing about the book: its format.
A “Hike by Category” section in the front of the book makes it easy to know what expect on each trail. Looking for a short trail with a waterfall view? A paved trail around a lake? A serious climb? You’ll find it here –
Also, in the 4th edition, you’ll find a “You’ve Got Options” section in most of the hike descriptions. Those “options” tell you how to shorten or lengthen the hiking route making it easy to customize an outing based on your time or physical limitations.
Annnnyway, this is too long. Grab the 4th edition and TAKE A HIKE!
